Hello fellas,
I am very happy to announce on a major update in the register.
The most exciting feature is images upload and the ability to search for specific images.
Changelog:
Behind the scenes
models, types, finish, special, countries, states and images are stored on a separate table, this allows the administration of these values (adding new model even if no one has it) as well as it makes the entire DB structure better and tightens security and enhances performance.
Lots of code has been removed and modified, everything is actually faster and more efficient now despite the new features.
Model has a secondary value to which it belongs (bass, guitar, lapsteel, etc...)
Visible:
"View item" page has been added, containing useful information:
All the information that is available on the main page on a easier format
"See more items from this user" function (without reveling the user ID or any private information)
Next/Previous item for regular users as well
The page tells if the users is registered to the forum or not
The "Edit" page has been enhanced:
Items are no longer populated from existing entries, a pull-down menu is available for everything - from models to states/provinces.
States/province pull down menu will automatically appear for the right country upon selection
New feature, Images upload:
Users may upload up to 11 images (configurable) for specific parts in their instruments
Fancy image display system based on lytebox will provide slideshow capabilities
Large images are being automatically reduced to fit on an 1024x768 display
Large images are kept and being provided as down loadable high quality copy
Users can delete/upload images as much as they want
The "Search" page has been enhanced:
Users may search for items in specific countries/provinces
Users may search items containing a specific image as well as any image (in combination with the other search filters)
Users may search for specific instruments (only basses, only guitars, etc...)
Please let us know of any bug you find or any problem you encounter.
Gil I like the fact that when in the Advanced Search if you just put in "Any" for the images you can see whos registered pics.
Simple but effective Great job well done and thanks for all your hard work its appreciated
PS your DCM is stunning
Gil: This is outstanding work. The Register is becoming a very powerful tool and with each of our contributions the history of Rickenbacker instruments unfolds before our very eyes.
The addition of the images is brilliant and I want to thank you for these efforts. I can't wait to see the photos each time I visit the Register now.
Scotty: Glad to see the blueburst. A nice looker.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
I tried to upload some images but it says "image is not a jpeg. Only jpg images are supported."
The images I tried to submit are jpg images and I have uploaded the same images before in other threads of the forum.
I don't understand.
Having a "jpg" suffix does not mean this is really a jpg image
I will add support for other formats (like png), but frankly - for this purpose - jpg is the best format.
Steve: Gil has completed some more changes which will allow you to upload your images without any changes at your end. I successfully uploaded your image as a test case, but it has been removed so that you can do it yourself. Please give it a try and let me know how you make out.

This feature has just been introduced Scotty. Further, this is the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend in the US and there is the distraction of NAMM 2008 as well.
