Dylan 30th Anniversary...
Never heard of this concert/CD, but today the radio played two cuts, one George Harrison doing Absolutely Sweet Marie (awesome), and the second - was beyond awesome.
My Back Pages. McGuinn sings the first verse, the crowd goes wild. Petty sings the second verse, the crowd goes wild. Neil Young sings the third verse, the crowd goes wild. Clapton plays a nice solo, sings the fourth verse, the crowd goes wild. Dylan sings the fifth verse, the crowd goes wild. Harrison sings the last verse, the crowd goes wild.
F@#*, to have been in that crowd!
Sounded as if McGuinn and Petty were both on twelve strings.
I gotta find this CD!

YOU....ARE....WELCOME!
Re: Dylan 30th Anniversary...
That's a hell of a backup band too...Steve Cropper, "Duck" Dunn, G.E. Smith...there's a lot of legendary talent on that stage.shamustwin wrote:Never heard of this concert/CD, but today the radio played two cuts, one George Harrison doing Absolutely Sweet Marie (awesome), and the second - was beyond awesome.

I have seen a number of clips on YouTube, and I have the 2-CD set. Amazing to listen to.
Best cuts: "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" (Eric Clapton), "Rainy Day Women #12 and 35" (Tom Petty), "Mr. Tambourine Man" (Roger McGuinn and Tom Petty)", "My Back Pages" (Roger McGuinn, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Bob Dylan)

Cool, thanks.
That Rick really cuts through.

I'd need a teleprompter. It's darned hard work memorizing some of Dylan's early songs.tennis_nick wrote:I couldn't imagine learning ALL the words to a Dylan song anyhow! hahaha.nyrkickazz1 wrote:Nice shot of the teleprompter down by the monitors at 2:35.

Yeah, GE’s told me about that show a couple of times. I wish I can remember some specifics. Nothing really juicy. He said everyone was very cooperative with no ego trips.
Re: Dylan 30th Anniversary...
Ronnie Wood's contribution (Seven Days) sounded like a very Stonesy take on a Dylan song. Could you see the Stones doing a Dylan song? It'd be totally awesome if they did Maggie's Farm or Subterranean Homesick Blues, but they don't...
