The Runaway Girl

Post by lyle_from_minneapolis »

So fun to have this new board! I write and record regularly, and always with my trusty 1972 4001 BG.

This one was finished yesterday morning...all me on various instruments and an old Boss Dr. Rhythm drum machine. It needs a better mix, but I'll update that soon. I'm always interested in feedback, including negative feedback...I learn a lot from that, and my skin is thick. Thanks for listening! Here it is:

Hey Mark,

The mix is not perfect but as a song I like it a lot. The song has a bit of a George Harrison feel to it and as such it would probably benefit from a nice slide lead. If I were producing this song (here I go again, but this is a positive not a negative) I would probably change the arrangment a bit, double track your lead vocal and have you tighten up the harmonies.

The really good news is that you have a great song as a base to begin with. It's something a producer could work with.

Thanks Guys. Brian, I agree with all you said.

Still, I think this one is not something I'd try to pitch to anyone. But I like it anyway! :)

Mark,

It's a well written song and it can be captured as you know many different ways during a recording session. You'd be pleasantly surprised I am sure, to hear it come to life as no doubt you first heard it in your head, when the idea for it came to you.

I would love to hear more of your material.

Your wish is my shameless self promotion. I just put up another. Thanks, Brian!
