Is this a 360/12WB?

Post by houblues »

That's what it looks like to me but I saw something in the forum about similar looking B series guitars, which I know nothing about. I am scheduled to meet this guy tonight. It is killing me that I can't get there any sooner. Any thoughts are appreciated.

It's a 360, but the pictures are so fuzzy, I can't see any binding.

What initially grabbed me is the combination of the shape and his mention in the post of two jacks. When I talked to him he confirmed that it is double bound.

Those triangle inlays tells me this is definately a 360/12WB. I, too, can't see any binding, but there probably is. Wish the pics were clearer...

Here she is: http://picasaweb.google.com/ndgilhmeg/R ... YGWw7z4MJE :D :D :D

Needs 6 more strings and no doubt a setup but who's complaining? Here's a question. Is this not a Ric case? It is a little short. It was carved out a bit and still you have to be careful how you lift the guitar from it to avoid scraping the headstock. My 2007 360/12 AFG had the same problem when I tried it in the case.

If it's any consolation my JG 360/12 WB is also a little tight in its case. It's hard to say if that was a common place occurrence or not, because I don't know the answer to that question.

Congrats though. That's a great looking Rick 12 at a bargain basement price.

Nice. The only thing that I see wrong with it is that the bridge is on backwards.

I have a black Tolex case for one of my 360's, and the fit is very snug.

Based on the interior of the case, it looks like an aftermarket case to me; every RIC case I have has form fitting padding around the body and neck of the guitar that stops just short of the headstock.I could be wrong though. some of the older cases could be different, but the lack of surround padding, combined with your description of the fit, leads me to believe it's an aftermarket case.

My 330 was just short enough for the headstock to clear the case. I had to carve out a little for the strap button to fit, but now the 330 fits pretty well into that case. The 360/12WB moved into a modern 300 series RIC case.

The serial number dates this guitar to October 1981. I see that Vintage Guitar Price Guide lists these as starting production in 1984, which is obviously incorrect.

Thanks for the note on the bridge. I had not noticed that.

One other question. If I am reading things correctly, this model in 1981 would not have come stock with toasters, meaning they are a special order or aftermarket. Do I have that right?

The B Series, forerunner to the V's, came with toasters, and the R tailpiece. I think they were discontinued in '82.
