Technically I guess I am a metalhead having grown up to the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and the like...but as I got older, I was told that the music wasn't really "heavy" enough and it was Iron Maiden and Metallica who were Heavy Metal bands...

So Sean, I hope you get into the origins of the genre...Wasn't Blue Cheer considered on of the first metal bands?

Marc, don't worry. I'm well versed in the origins of heavy music even though I am not much of a fan of a lot of it. Even as a kid I didn't care for Led Zeppelin and if I listen to them now, it has to be something from their last 2 or 3 records.

I'll do my best to cover all aspects from early metal, doom, death/black metal, power metal and everything in between.

These bands were around before the term was widely used. Ian Gillan of Deep Purple hates the tern heavy metal and much prefers hard rock. It really does not matter, It's all rock n roll to me.

First time checking the forum out, Sean, good on ya! If there was someone to wave the metal flag around here...you would be one of my first choices!
