Peter Lewis are my 2 middle name.. Look at my email it's [email protected]= Harold Peters Lewis Runfola52. And funny you should throw a pic of Moby Grape up, they're my favorite band, and PeterLewis just does happen to be in that band. In 1999, When they found Bob Mosley under a bridge in San Diego, it was Peter Lewis who got him back to the mainstream of life, Then when they started playing again I saw them in PA. in the Summer of 2000? I think it was that summer! Anyway Bob was playing an "offshore" Fender Jazz bass and I remember him, all the time, w/ a SB P-bass. and we all know in the late 60's Japan was known for really bad guitars and transistor radios. So I couldn't let my Bass hero go around with that POS. I sent him a 69'P-bass I hadn't played in 20 years. It made me so happy just to see him with an instrument that was deserving of him and it was kind of a thank-you for giving me so many years of great music. So that's who Peter Lewis is. And many thanks for posting for me .

Welcome to the forum Harold.

The neck on this bass appears to have 2 pieces of maple running its length. We've seen this before, but not all that common. Does anyone know if this practice was strictly post skunk stripe?

Much welcome, and a great story, Harold!

Ken, IIRC Ted stated it was a transition from the skunk to the full one-piece maple in the early 4003 basses. Maybe he will chime in and either verify my memory or correct this if need be.

She's still looking good Harold!

Those who like the thicker necks would love this bass.

Yes ANDY, But you'd have to love the Louisville Slugger effect this 4003 has. But I tell you what, it sounds thrilling to the bone. Now if I can only find some old man here in Florida who hasn't played his bass since 1967 and it's a 4005 and he wants to "unload it" for $500.00! ANYONE>>ANYONE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Quick!!!! everyone run to the window and watch the squadron of pigs flying by!!!!!!!!!!!!
