"For Me Again" Chords

Post by mcd220 »

I was surprised to get several email requests on how to play this
song. :-)

Haven't played it for years, so I re-visited the tune, and here you
go:

Verse:

E C#m F# A E C#m

E C#m F# A C#m E

======================================================================

Turnaround:

A C#M D

A C#m D

A C#m F#

E C#m F# A C#m F#

=====================================================================

Bridge:

C#m F# A B7 E

C#m F# A F# B7

=====================================================================

End: (From "Me again")

E C#m F# A F#

E F# Ab

=====================================================================

Like "Here without you", this is another fine study of the odd, yet
brilliant & gorgeous chord progressions from Gene Clark.

Also Fascinating, is the way Gene could take a very mundane,
straightforward & symetrical chord progression, like "The world turns
all around her", and come up with an equally wonderful song.

The modulations here are very engaging; especially considering that
the song is in the key of E major, and ends on Ab.

A nice simple cakewalk to play; no sweat, no strain. :-)

As far as the questions about arrangement; this is of course a
rough "Preflyte demo", and as mentioned, would sound wonderful given
the full "MTM & TTT Treatment".

I would beef up the drums and percussion, install a Chris Bass line
proper, (A nice descending "Walk down" at the end of the bridge back
to the tonic, B to E, would sound SPLENDID here) and because it's in
the key of "E", a nice 12 string solo in the middle, with your E & B
strings droning would be great.

Cap it off with the odd, yet beautiful counterpoint modal Crosby
harmony, and your good to go. :)

Very talented songwriter, that boy...

Enjoy!

Christian
