I'm not surprised, should have known. Oh well... Anyways, the minimum batch order is maybe like 50 now or something, not sure.

Hmmmm.. Well, tell that to the hundreds, if not more of the regular customers who ordered and put deposits on standard production guitars almost 2 years ago and still haven't recieved them yet, I'm sure they appreciate this kind of thing. Not trying to be nasty here, just voicing my opinion and those of several people who have e-mailed me.
Quite honestly, this kind of stuff is just one of the many examples of why:

A. For 85 to 90% of my gigs and recording work, I switched over to a Fender bass.

B.My main 6-string axe now is a PRS Santana III model guitar, as well as Fenders and Gibsons.

C.I haven't bought a new Rickenbacker since 1988

D. I like dealing with the Custom shops at Fender and Gibson, and the folks at PRS. Never had any problems with them, always treated nicely and with respect. A good example is a few years ago I ordered a PRS Custom 24 in Violin Amber finish. It wasn't a 10 Top(highly figured wood), but because my salesman had a good relationship with PRS, he asked them if they would use a piece of wood for the body of my guitar that was as close to a 10 top as they could get, without the extra cost in $. This they did, and I got a gorgeous guitar in the process and a bit of special treatment. That's called giving your customers what they want! Prices are steeper at other guitar makers? Yup, but I didn't mind because I knew I was getting the exact guitar I wanted. It's a shame really, I was born 20 years too late. I really wish I would have been of age during Rickenbacker's glory period in the 60's.

Because I still own a few Ricks, and still buy a used one every now and then(mostly pre 84', if you get my drift), just not a new one. Pretty simple, does that answer your question?

Miguel, thanks for the post, much appreciated, but the problems a lot of customers and dealers have with Rickenbacker run a lot deeper than just a special guitar for someone. Anyways, I'm not gonna start a flame war here or anything, as it's Peter's board and I don't want to cause any trouble. However, if you are interested in learning more, you can e-mail me privately and I will be glad to talk with you. Best to keep it private and off the board, as I believe Peter would want it. As for what Ricks I own, at this moment, I still own a 66' 360 in Mapleglo that my brother bought in the early 70's and started teaching me how to play on when I was growing up in the 70's. He eventually gave me the guitar. I also purchased a 4001v63 bass new in 88', in Fireglo, that was my main workhorse for many years. I did sell it briefly a few years ago, but got it back from the guy, I won't sell it again. I used it more since then, it's great and has some nice wear and tear on it from all the years of gigs, etc.... But truth be told, I use a Fender Precision and Jazz bass for gigs and recording much more these days. I have owned a lot of other Ricks over the years, pretty much all used ones, sold them over time. Some of them I really regret selling, the others I don't miss at all.

IMHO one of the prettiest hollowbody models Rick has ever produced, in the most beautiful finish too. I think I like Monty Brown even better than Fireglo... I'm glad to see that it is now a regular Rick finish. A "Peter McCormack Limited Edition" has a nice sound to it!

No wait, they already had a bass by that name a few years ago. We'll have to come up with something else.

John W, nice try in trying to bait me into a flame war, but it won't work. I simply stated my opinion on this matter, which I was upset by. Peter and I have e-mailed each other and discussed it, end of story.

Awesome guitar Peter, and well deserved. Just out of curiosity, I just bought a 1997SPC
(6 string) from POTR which looks similar. What are the distinctions between the 1993 and a 1997 models?

They both have the same body shape and dimensions. The 1993 model is a twelve string guitar with white binding on the front and back edges of the body. The 1997 models are six string guitars with no body bindings.
