8 string value ?

Local Craigslist 8 string RIC bass for sale . What are they worth ? I don't want to hear " whatever your willing to pay "

Depends if its a 4008 or a 4003S-8. $1850.00 to $2850.00 depending on condition. I realize thats pretty broad,, but it seems to be where they ususally fall.

Maybe higher..

If it's the one I'm thinking of $1800 is pretty fair for an 89 JG ...last years Vintage Guitar Price Guide says $2200-$3200...plus a silver Vintage case makes it an even better deal (I didn't know that an S8 would fit in a silver case!)....make sure the action is low and that there's no neck bow...dm

I saw that the other day. It says Jetglo, so at least the guy seems to know what he's talking about (i.e., not "black" or "jetglow"). Looks like a good price to me - I would go for it, but I've already got two 8-strings...

$1800???????? Check that the neck hasn't go the S-shape wobbles! If it's straight, buy that sucker!!!! The dealer ask for a 4003S/8 has been north of $2,500 of late. Just don't let me sniff it out first - I feel a major attack of RAS comin' on...

This type of thread ruins the chances for those already pursuing said instrument, and possibly raises the price of the instrument if the seller is aware of us. This happened to me just last week with a '80 $1300 V63 I was pursuing. :evil:

Don't you have to be registered in order to read the "For Sale" threads? Oh, oops, this is in "Rickenbacker Basses" - maybe it needs to be moved?

What's to stop some evil interloper registering and then getting access to the "For Sale" threads? Isn't there a bit of an "us" and "them" philosophy creeping in here?

Alright, remember they also had the id of the bass wrong. '84 was the first year, so it is now a moot point what year it was, but it is gone and not mine.
