Hi, I'm a new member. I apologize in advance if I'm asking something that may already have been asked (and answered). What is the (tonal) difference between plain steel and timplated steel strings?

Welcome to the forum, Bojan. I think you must mean nickel plated strings? I'm not sure of the tonal differences, but the nickel plated ones would be easier on your frets.

Hi Bojan;
Welcome to the forum. I've been using the Thomastiks for several years, and I can't really tell any difference in sound between plain steel or tinplated steel strings. The tinplated seem to resist corrosion better, and thus last longer. They also look cool!

Thanks Mark!

Ernie Ball strings are tin plated and they do have a nicer feel to them. I agree with others here, however, in that at least the plain strings do not sound different from other plain strings. I do find them more comfortable though and they do indeed resist corrosion better. As for a cooler look, why not.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
