Rickenbacker Model 1993 12-Strings

Post by njmusicman »

Rickenbacker made a batch of 25 or so model 1993 12-strings in the 80's, maybe around 87' or so. Most or all of these were in Fireglo finish. At that time they also made a batch of model 1997 6-strings, although these were unique in that they were Double-Bound bodies. They were ordered by a guy who worked for the Sam Ash music chain, I think his name was Jimmy DeStefano or something like that. These are very, very rare and I owned one of the double-bound 1997's for many years before selling it a few years ago. It's one of the Ricks I owned that I regret selling, but that's what happens when you are in dire straits financially. Bob "Bobkat" Belloff had one of the model 1993 12-strings from the 80's in his house one day while I was there recording with him, back in 97' I think. He was selling it but I simply didn't have the money at the time, and that was the closest I ever came to having one. Although, my memory might be mistaken and it was one of the B Series 12-strings instead, I'll have to ask him. Anyways, I've never seen another one of the 80's 1993 models for sale since.

John Simmons, you are correct in that the model 1993 12-string is really just now a 360-12C64 Series guitar with an F-Hole, which means they could easily be made.
