Had to throw out that little jab, didn't you Kevin!teeder wrote:Don't forget the Horseshoe! Right, Jeff?
Since the real '68 saw a transition from the horseshoe pickup to a normal pickup, I believe the V68 model when issued should be available with either!
Re: V63 on the 'bay
How about including both!
Good thing this 21 fretter doesn't have a HS. I'd never fit my fingers between it and the bridge.

Re: V63 on the 'bay
I did forget the need for the full guard and plexi TRC.
In the interest of producability and the fact that it was made either way, and to further distinguish it from the V63/C64, I say no shoes. I don't think most people are looking for an exact knock-off, but a close tribute would be cool (i.e. modern rods and hi-gains). I might even say that checkered binding added to the available features would get a pretty strong response. FW inlays would hit it out of the park for me however like the real one I used to have.

GOTTA have a horseshoe on the v68! Mine is sorely lacking one.
BTW, Kev, I am absolutely LOVING the v63. Haven't gigged with anything else since I got it! Still deciding what to take out tonight.

But I do know this...There are quite a few RIC customers that would like the C64 more if it were offered with the correct facing headstock.
Yeah the reverse headstock on a righty bass is just odd or perhaps its just me? I mean with that logic the shouldn't lefty be normal headstock?
I remember calling Rickenbacker and asking if I could order a C64 with a normal headstock, they said no.
I said why cant you just flip it? they said because
I said why I'd even pay extra for custom work? they said no
I said really? they put the phone on mute, I spent the next 3 hours ranting on trying to convince them until the cleaning lady picked up the phone and told me everyone left 2 hours and 58 minutes ago.
Why can't they make it an option?
I mean its not even a Paul Mc signature bass? which would make sense perhaps to people who that want that Beatle look

GOTTA have a HS on a V68, if you don't like 'em, you can ALWAYS take 'em off! TRY finding one to ADD aftermarket!
On another note:
I'm REALLY hoping RIC has something "special" up their sleeves.
I'm SO looking forward to my 4004cii, but I can't help but wonder what JH & friends have in their collective minds LOOKING FORWARD.
A V68, would be cool, but I'd also love something completely NEW. I'd love a semi-acoustic (360 based or 381) style bass. Hey, I'm not getting any younger.
Something light, but something uniquely RIC would be great. Something that can they can cross platform, and make multiple (I believe the term is modular) uses. Something that can be a 4 or 5 string, can also be made fretless, throw in a Piezo and it can sound acoustic as well as electric.
Ah, one can dream.

Oopps! Didn't mean to sound like a commercial! I wouldn't want to be accused of sounding like "He who shall remain nameless"!sloop_john_b wrote:There's something about those '93's!teeder wrote:Nice neck, isn't it!

I agree. I'm not a fan of the reverse headstock, either. I think it would be nice if they released it as a special option with a normal headstock. Alas, we can't always get what we want.Droog61 wrote:Yeah the reverse headstock on a righty bass is just odd or perhaps its just me? I mean with that logic the shouldn't lefty be normal headstock?
