Montezuma Brown extra cost

Post by bails »

Does anyone know if MB will lose it's $100 price tag sometime in the future? I assume if its popularity increases (which it will because it's a winner of a colour!), it will eventually cost RIC the same as FG to apply, as it will no longer require special spray set-ups for small batches. The pattern spraying of both FG and MB must cost RIC extra, so plain finishes (JG, MG, MID, BB) should be standard price and burst finishes (FG, MB) should cost extra. Effectively what I'm asking is: Are we paying for the spray booth set-up costs or for the actual labour to spray the guitar?

mark, i just ordered a Blue Boy 360, and there was a $100 charge for that color, so am not sure if the special spray set-up applies solely to the 'burst finishes. i would guess we are paying for the fact that they are fairly new colors (the MB and BB) and that they require special paint mixing, set-up, etc. I am just happy to be able to get a Blue Boy! i really liked the color ever since seeing it on Mike Parks pic.s of the Japan Ric booth. i can't wait!

Got the scoop straight from Mr. Hall regarding the availabilty of MB. I was a bit worried, as I just purchased a MB 4003....

"MB will be held over for one more year only and will not become a regular color in our line. This was done simply because the color was late to ship last year and therefore did not have proper representation in the stores so that people could see it before ordering.

Regards,

John Hall"
