Hi John,

I am originally from Milwaukee but after graduating from the University of Wisconsin I moved to Los Angeles, Chicago, Lansing MI and finally Minneapolis in 1982. I live about a block off the SE corner of Lake Harriet in SW Minneapolis. For those of you who have never been here, Minneapolis/St. Paul and their metro area are amazing for the fact that they have many, many lakes everywhere - even in the heart of the city. I can get to downtown Minneapolis in 7 minutes using side streets and yet I live on a beautiful lake which is about 3 miles around. White Bear Lake, where John used to live, is a beautiful, much larger lake about 15 minutes from the metro center.

All of your comments are special but I wanted to respond to a few:

Dr. Katherine Nell McNeil - Is that a Tom Petty you are holding in your avatar? Sports Cars? - Do Tell!
Nope Not a Tom Petty just a AFG 660 6 string........she is soooooooo beautiful. Oh and the sports car thing.....uhhhh well I have this thing about driving red cars.....red sports cars. Currently, I have a 2004 red Honda S2000 and she shares the garage with with a Silver 2004 Lotus.....the Mini Cooper has to live outside. For the past year I have been thinking about buying a 2005 NSX (red of course) but I could also invest that money in a few Rics so it is a toss up:mrgreen: Currently we have 31 guitars in the house so finding room has become an issue.
"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe." Albert Einstein

You can never have to many guitars......or to many sports cars!!!

Welcome to the fold!

With my original flight plan derailed by the events September 11, 2001 in January 2002 I DROVE myself to Rochester, Minnesota to record an album with The Foglifters. My three Rics made the 700 mile drive. I learned a lot on that busy trip including (1.) Minnesota is just north of absolute zero temperature-wise in January, (2.) Wisconsin and Minnesota are beautiful, (3.) Dave's Guitars in LaCrosse is Mecca and I will forever regret NOT buying the Fireglo Comstock which I played for an hour, and (4.) Rickenbacker guitar tracks ALWAYS cut through on recordings.

Nice to have you here. Kick up some dust and make yourself at home.

Here you go Michael,
Keep your eyes open 'cause there are vintage treats to be had when you're ready to pull the trigger.
How about a 66' 375 FG:

...went in to buy a 52' Tele and walked out with a 360 Jetglo...

Another Minnesota Forumite--Cool! There are a few others who live in the Twin Cities area, too.

Would be fun to have a MN mini-Confluence sometime--open to out-of-state Forumites too, of course!

Well if it's open to people from out of state, I'm guessing that means it's also open to Minnesota ex-patriots. If you really want to give folks a taste of what Minnesota is like maybe some of the following times of year might be in order:

March - State High School Hockey Tournament...nothing in the world like it except maybe HS Basketball in Indiana. I grew up believing that BB was a great sport for the kids who weren't good enough athletes to play hockey....

September/October - Nothing like Autumn in God's Country

January(?) I forget... - St Paul Winter Carnival...we could take them Ice Fishing or to the world famous Softball Tournament held at one time on, (yes I meant ON) White Bear Lake...now there's the spirit!

August - Nothing like Minnesota Mosquitoes just about dusk. That's when the Loon has to give way to as the MN State Bird....

So Melissa & Michael, what do you think?

Now that sounds like a plan! The Twin Cities are only four hours away..... (hmm... this is sounding good)

Now if only I knew what a Confluence was! I will go to the Confluence forum and see what clues I can pick up there. I suspect it involves playing, showing off guitars, drinking and telling large lies.
