You know, after Wints posted that, I started looking at a lot of pictures and my 3 basses also and they are all off center a bit. So I'm not sweating it. Interesting about the possible reason for the weak E.....

David, thanks for the offer, but I now have a guard like yours as shown in that latest picture.

I don't know why some of these pickguards are so far off. It's probably no surprise that the pickup being 1/8' or so off center would drive me nuts and be on it's way back to the source for a replacement by now. Then again, I make all of my pickguards, so the point is moot.
