A Gr8 Deal!!

Post by rickenbrother »

I got a sweet 4003S/8 in excellent condition. It hardly has any wear on it at all.
I have to give big thank you to Tony C for finding this for me as soon as it was listed. Especially since John A missed out on the V63, that "8 String Value" thread really had me nervous before the deal got worked out!

It fits in the vintage case which is also in great condition, just fine.

To make the deal even sweeter, for a very reasonable amount more, the seller added this in the case (no, not the paper, what's in the paper!):

After 27 years of playing Rick basses, I FINALLY got a horseshoe pickup. Now to find a vintage style surround. :D

It plays very nice, great action on it. The strings were installed the opposite way by the previous owner. He must have played it fingerstyle, but he didn't cut the nut slots or make a new nut to accommodate the string gauge. :? I'll install them the right way when I get a new set. These strings really sound very dull and dead. I can't wait to change them!

I'll probably be selling a 4003 mapleglo soon.

Nice score, Joey!

I have lost out on the last three 8's I have gone for. I am happy you got yours. And the bonus HS.

You're a lucky man, Joey! I bet your eight banger is going to sound absolutely huge once you whack in that horseshoe. Congratulations, mate! :D

Excellent! The strings look like they're the way they are supposed to be on an S8 - the 4008 had them the other way around. Maybe a previous owner had the nut changed and the string order flipped around?

I can vouch for that.

I was IM'ing Joey when it popped up right in front of me. I KNEW we had to move fast. You guys are good! :D

I even checked on the fourm to see if the "cat was out of the bag" sort of speak, when Joey made first contact with the seller via Email. There wasn't a phone number. There was about an 7 hr. lag from me telling Joey and the post on the forum.

The deal was already in motion when the thread hit the forum.

I've found a number of gutiars & basses for forum members. It is my hobby to search the web all over the world to look for RIC guitars. I'm sure there are a number of forumites who can vouch for me on that.
