Ugly duckling??

Post by targ »

Hey all, have you ever seen this Ric ?
Image
I wrote to them asking if it was just a washed out photo, and they said no, what you see is what you get and that is just the way it is. It is supposed to be jet glow. but its' gray.
Question, wouldn't QC at Ric catch this, or do they let out seconds? The price is right, but wow, I cant get over how off it is from "jet Glow"
Could you grow to love this Ugly duckling?

RIC announced they would be sending out a few oddball things over the coming months, and this looks like maybe it's one of the grayglo's they were talking about.

"Could you grow to love this?" he asks. Absolutely! It's a Rickenbacker, ain't it?

P.S. How does a guy go about snagging one of these one-off geetars anyhow?

Very nice, unique to boot!
I've seen only one other, a 4003.
These are not seconds or flawed.
When a 350 shows up in Greyglo (off-black?), I'm all over it!

Didn't this come up before about a little less than a year or so ago?
And JH (or someone else at RIC) said that they switched paints and some guitars came out grey.

Or am I completely crazy and making this up?

It would have been with any other guitar builder, but I digress.
Lets face it, it was a mistake.
It was priced like a 2nd, 1000 + 200 and add 75 for good measure. That included shipping.

But honestly, I wanted Jet GLow and I'm not sure I would have been happy with one that looked like a mistake.
