I've toyed around with building a J or a P with Dark Star pickups in it. Still debating. I know John Stirrat from Wilco has a P with a Dark Star.

Speaking of JB's, I read the John Paul Jones article in Bass Player last night. He said people assume he uses flats, but he switched to rounds back in his session days. He wanted more sustain than what he was getting with flats.
I always used rounds on my JB, and thought I got very close to his sound.
