My first Rickenbacker bass

Post by monoBEAR »

I recently bought a 2004 Rickenbacker 4003 Jetglow on ebay. It is being shipped to me as we speak. I am so excited to get it. I have wanted a Rickenbacker bass since I was 15 years old. I am now 27. It's been a long wait. I also have a Gibson SG bass that I really love. I'm excited to play my Rickenbacker at band practice next week. woo hoo!!

You can still see leftovers from the Lemmy sticker which had been on it for many years.

Welcome and congrats!

I think that this may have been my first RIC bass:
1977 4000 FL BG
1977 4000 FL BG
but the 3001 MG that I no longer have was also bought in 1998, so it may have predated the 4000 FL BG by a few months.

Wow. A fretless 4000. This must be rarer than rare...

Welcome Jeremy,

Like a lot of good things in life, sometimes you have to wait a little longer for them...

Enjoy!

My first rick was jetglo too! Congrats, back in 1979 I bought this checkerbound beauty for the premium price of $500, hard to believe that this bass and Rush were only 6 years old at the time, I was 20. The 1973 July fireglo I just bought had the original sales receipt from 1974 in the case, the original owner got a better deal than me at $400.

SWEET! man, sounds like you got a great deal. it's hard to believe what Rickenbackers used to sell for.
they are badass basses though. congrats on some really good deals.

Welcome, Jeremy. I'm 47 and played a Guild bass for twenty years because I could get it to sound like a Ric. But three years ago, I decided to get the real thing... since then I've got three Ric basses and a 330, so beware! Once that bug bites you...
