Nice guitars all. About the 381: It's not as heavy as a Les Paul or anything, but it's definitely heavier than my Gretsch Silverjet, or my 360 WBs. The RIC website lists the weight as only a pound more than a 330 or 360, but this doesn't seem correct, based on the experience of having played each extensively. Anyone have any insight into this?Razor wrote:Peter, simply because I find the 381 is very heavy (and it's rare these days I find the need for the 12-string sound) and the 1998 although it's a beautiful guitar, the vintage pickups don't have the oomph of the 330 hi-gain pickups.admin wrote: When you get the chance I would be interested in knowing why the 1998 and 381 spend so much time in their cases. Are they yoo hard to carry on the Lammy.
You're right - it is a bit awkward carrying them on the Lammy!![]()

If you've got a Jetglo 360 W/B 12-string then you've got my dream guitar!

Re: Hello!
I will sometime in the near future. It will actually be a 365 with vintage pickups when I get it back. The guitar is having checkered binding applied to it, among other things. I can't wait to get it back.Razor wrote:Paulpaologregorio wrote:or my 360 WBs

Now there's a tale!ric330 wrote:tell us about the amp you are using and other equipment you use with your Ricks.
Up until today I had a Peavey Classic 20 (small 15 watt tweed covered valve combo) however...
Last week I was perusing the internet as one does and came across the new Vox AC30 Classic Customs
We concluded the deal this evening. He's well happy with the Peavey and I'm over the moon with the AC30
Note to self: Thats pics of Ricks with Lammy and with AC30 that need posting now!
As for effects I've got a Line 6 Pod XT Live, which sounded great with the Peavey, but this evening while I as giving it a blast through the Vox it sounded pants! I think all the amp modelling stuff will be surplus to requirements now. After all there's no point having an AC30 and using DSP technology to try to make it sound like a Marshall is there!!

Re: Hello!
Thanks! Here are a couple of nifty pics of JG 360 OS models(21 frets, plain soundhole)-not mine, of course, but they'll give you something to dream about, and perhaps pursue:Razor wrote:Very nice guitars Paulpaologregorio wrote:Meanwhile, I do have pics of the following:![]()
A 1968: A 1962: The only thing about the OS models that I find somewhat lacking is the fact that the soundholes do not have binding. Binding really accents the soundhole shape, IMHO. The rest of the guitar is so gorgeous I could live with it though

Paul they're lovely.paologregorio wrote:Here are a couple of nifty pics of JG 360 OS models(21 frets, plain soundhole)
If I were to get one I'd like a later one with hi-gain pickups, the 'R' tailpiece and the binding around the soundhole - call me fussy if you like!

Re: Hello!
What you want is probably easier to find. Mine all came with "R" tailpieces, except my 381/6, which came with the Accent mounted, and the "R" tailpice wrapped up nicely in the caseRazor wrote:Paul they're lovely.paologregorio wrote:Here are a couple of nifty pics of JG 360 OS models(21 frets, plain soundhole)![]()

Re: Hello!
I really like the aesthetics of the 'R' tailpiece, but you're right changing strings can be a real pain - especially on a 12-string!!paologregorio wrote:It's also far easier to change strings with the Accent tailpiece than with the "R" tailpiece, though I've gotten really good at restringing the "R" tailpiece as well.

Re: Hello!
Welcome, and thanks for adhering to the unwritten rule: If you are going to talk about your guitar, let's see a pic. Nice ones at that.
Can I see a pic of the 381/12 headstock up close? Those tuner ferrules look awful big for a V headstock.
