i saw one on ebay that looked really cool. called a workingman's bass amp. it has 2 10's and it is 400 watts. they were asking around 500 for it and 40 shipping. anyone know anything about these? thanks.

I've never used one or heard one so I can't really comment on them. I usually prefer tube bass amps though unless I'm trying to play some funky Flea stuff. Hope someone can give you some info about these.

Is that the one with the graphic EQ? I have had a few SWRs over the years, they are nice amps but the tone is tilted up towards the bright end in general. They are very well built with quality parts, and the WMs were still USA made. I think the price is a bit high, though.

I'd have to agree with Jeffrey's comments - especially with the 2 10" cabinet. Depends on your band of course, but even in a three piece band I couldn't get enough bottom out of it until I moved to a 4 10 cab. I ran the Goliath series though, not the workingman series. As I understand it the workingman cabinets are lighter weight by using lighter weight, less dense cabinet wood. Good for portability, but has an effect on the sound. As with anything, go find one in a store and give it a try.
