Jeremy,
Congrats on the bass. I have owned a Rick since the early '70's, and I will never give it up. I just joined the forum today as well. This is a great forum, with knowledgeable members quick to share information. Gary

Jeremy, kinda feels like waitin for Santa doesn’t it? Good luck with it and don’t forget to post some pictures when you get a moment. Get a good night’s sleep… 'while visions of Rics dance round in your head'.

And in keeping with the expanded portion of this thread –

My first Rickenbacker bass – ’74 4001… bought in ’74:

oh, i'm very happy with it. and yes, i was speechless. when i opened the case i was seriously in awe. it's
so beautiful and so smooth. i've never played anything in the world like it. i got a BIG MUFF pedal that i
am gonna run it through for our band. it sounds badass.

I play my 4001 through a Little Big Muff for a couple songs and it sounds great, even with the sustain all the way down (hey, we're just a little indie band, I don't get to rock out like Motorhead in this one).
