Anybody seen this?
I'd never seen this before. Nobody can say Ricks can't play hard rock ever again.

If there isn't a 12 string Rickenbacker playing at my funeral, I'm leaving.

Re: Anybody seen this?
It seems more like mod to me.
Re: Anybody seen this?
Yep it The movement top band and they are probably the modest band around maybe even more mod than the jam!!!!
Not hard rock! but then again what is hard rock?

Re: Anybody seen this?
Top band indeed. Mod-powerpop-rock... whatever. At the end of the day it's either good or it is not, and the Movement put on a banging show. There is an obvious tip of the bowler to the Jam, but their sound is not solely derivative.
Did they break up? I seem to recall their frontman (Lukas S...) going solo. I'll check Myspace
-think he's on my top friends list.
Love to hear that Rickenbacker growl and sing.

Re: Anybody seen this?
I'm not sure, it just seems like pre-hard rock, can't say exactly why, maybe the songs are too simple, maybe there's not enough distortion on the guitar.
I think it would have to be something at least like Ten Years After to be hard rock.

Re: Anybody seen this?
They could be a Jam tribute band...

I'd call it blatant, not even obvious. Talk about living in the past...longhouse wrote:There is an obvious tip of the bowler to the Jam

I like the a lot, and I'll be damned if I can find a cd anywhere.
Re: Anybody seen this?
I've heard of all of them Scottie, including seeing most of them back in the late 70's. That was then, and now it's 2008! Some might call it progression, but I ain't one of them!
Re: Anybody seen this?
Andrew, With greatest of respect the video was shot a number of years ago not recently.
and where does that leave the bootleg Beatles in a manner of revivalist groups? or other bands than emulate their heroes. Its pretty obvious that their heroes are the Jam the Clash and the Who.The title of the thread was Any body seen this.Quote" Nobody can say Ricks can't play hard rock ever again." Im saying this isn't hard rock.Im in agreement with Rickenmental "It seems more like mod to me.longhouse wrote: At the end of the day it's either good or it is not. Progression is only a matter of how good Progression is accepted for example Paul McCartney's is still singing HeyJude. Is that progression? i think this thread has veered of coarse a couple of posts ago! Signing out scotty

Re: Anybody seen this?
Scottie,
I go back home and there are still the same guys following the UK Subs and the like, just like in 78. Nothing wrong with that, or being a solid band that seems very like those from the same period. I'm just amazed at how it's still rolling along 25+ years later, and in my eyes a much poorer format.
I saw the Jam a few times in my youth (and met them all at one Rainbow gig in '79) and they were an energetic force. The rest since have been pale imitators to me, but you know the old saying about imitation...

Andrew . I know what your saying !!"Nothing wrong with that, or being a solid band that seems very like those from the same period. I'm just amazed at how it's still rolling along 25+ years later, and in my eyes a much poorer format". The same could be said for Beatles fanatics after 40 years let me see Oasis as a starter
