Set neck / nech through

what is the story on set neck 4001? is there such a thing, or are they all neck through?

There were a few made ... and there were a few set neck 4000 models that had the second pickup added to make them a 4001 ...

Either way not many made ...

Was the 4080 set-neck or bolt on?

Bolt on.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

I spoke with someone at Rickenbacker about this subject, particularly because I have a set-neck 4000 that I would love to convert. Apparently the going opinion is that two-pickup set-necks are to be avoided.
