1990's 4001's

Post by jazzstick »

Hi everyone I have a chance to finally get a ric bass again. I believe its an early 90's 4001. How do these compare to the 70's basses. I've got an awesome price of $700 so I' m hopin' that you guys will say it will do the job for a nice geddy tone. I'm not a big fan of the latter 4003's. did these basses have the caps.

all help is appreciated

Is it a 4003 or a 4001v63? The 4001 was discontinued in the early 80's.

An early 90's 4003 will NOT have the cap.

The necks are thin on basses from this era but perhaps not quite as thin as a 70's 4001.

For $700? DO IT.

No I'm gonna get it. I lost my Rick in a flood a year ago and this bass may be a Godsend. I have no idea what it is but I will really appreciate it after the long wait. Wish me luck I go tomorrow to check it out. And thanks for the responses. I know that he bought it in 94 and he seems to think its a 4001. He cant make out the letters on the jackplate so I will be happy with any playable rick at that price. If it turns out to be something I don't love I may trade it for something else.

Thanks Brett

Now that you have us all interested, keep us up on what you find and if you buy it. Could be a 4001 V63 or C64 bass.

A '94 C64 would be an amazing find...
