McCartney v. McCartney, Can't Get Much Worse?
Re: McCartney v. McCartney, Can't Get Much Worse?
I note in the news today that Paul and Heather are in court regarding their divorce settlement.

News on the Today Show as well. Unless she implodes like she did on her media sweep a few months ago, she could cause him some big trouble over the tour revenue thing--and not just in terms of having to give her a cut.admin wrote:I note in the news today that Paul and Heather are in court regarding their divorce settlement.

Heather is representing herself in court. Have to question that logic. Meanwhile, it's reported that Paul has been seen out on the town with Rosanna Arquette. Is there any rocker she hasn't dated? A side story also has Macca denying that he had angioplasty as reported earlier this year. At least it's a break from the American primaries.

Viewed from this side of the Atlantic pond the logic is quite simple – she can’t afford at such a late stage to hire legal help skilled enough to take on this kind of high profile divorce proceeding.Heather is representing herself in court. Have to question that logic.
Known as the lawyers who acted for Princess Diana during her divorce from Charles, Prince of Wales. Heather Mills did originally employ the legal services of Mishcon de Reya some 20 months ago. However that relationship has recently gone publicly very pear-shaped due to accumulated legal bills of reportedly some £2 million ($4 million US) being in dispute. See…..

While possibly viewed from an American perspective, with apparently so much at stake, defending oneself in a court of law might seem somewhat of an unorthodox course of action. In the British courts it is less of a rarity, especially when dealing with matters of matrimonial dispute. Nevertheless, on this occasion she’s in the ring that is a British Court of Law punching way over her weight limit.
Although the scheduled 5-day hearing is being held in closed session (no public or media allowed) she’s up against the pairing of Mostyn and Shackleton, the legal duo who represented Charles, Prince of Wales throughout his high profile separation with the late Princess Diana. See…..

If this kind of case runs to form, the Judge will be pressuring both sides to come to some form of compromise agreement. However, if they can’t find common ground, as apparently is the reported case then he [the Judge] will step in and decide the matter. Subject to the likelihood of any appeals being made (which is always a possibility where these kinds of monies and egos are involved) this is very much the end game of the affair
Such coverage is also somewhat, in a manner of speaking being rammed down our throats in this part of world. Very little of John McCain but lots of top heavy coverage and analysis being churned out on Clinton v Obama. At least it's a break from the American primaries.

You know, Huckabee also plays bass. Wonder if Heather would consider stumping for him...

Thank gawd this is over with!! It might be possible that people can go back to straightning out their own dumb lives instead of living in the trades.
Leprosy is rare & scarce but nobody wants that!

Yes, agree. Good that is it over with now. Apparently the British press has been much more into it than the media here in the U.S. The settlement works out to $108 million U.S.

No, it’s not over – far from it.

Effectively, being that both parties having failed to reach an agreement following a scheduled 5 days of behind-closed-doors argument before a judge. The judge in question has taken the matter into his own hands for consideration – to be made known to both parties at a later date.
Should, at such a later date, either or both of the parties wish to disagree with the judge’s decision then they have the option of appealing the verdict to another court. However, both parties will need to bear in mind that should an appeal be sought in the matter then such an appeal will be heard publicly (being that this a civil matrimonial dispute and not one of criminal sensitivity or national security) and the facts of the dispute aired again – warts and all.
Believe me, the notorious British tabloid press are currently on their hands and knees praying that such a state of affairs comes to pass. Being that effectively for the past week or so they’ve been blindly reporting on a case using little else but educated guesswork – much of it, I suspect, well wide of the mark.

Today it is reported Mills refused Macca's 20 million offer, wanting 50, so the court now will decide.

Heather Mills own father doesn't think much of her:

Way back in this thread I also posted comments from her "other" ex-husband. Seems to be a common refrain here...
