I have a mapleglo 4001 S Rick that, at some time in the past, someone replaced the jackplate thus removing the serial number. The only date i could find was a number "2/77" marked in pencil in the bridge pickup cavity.
Did Rick ever do this at the factory?
Thanks again,
Dan

I have found month/day numbers in my basses, but not month/year, which your 2/77 sounds like.
Re: 4001 Rick
Post a few pictures. Maybe we can help you. Get me a shot of the end of the neck under the guard. That will help narrow it down.

Re: 4001 Rick
Is it a neck-through or set-neck? The set necks ran from the late '70s to the mid-early 80s.

The set necks arrived in 1973.
