NMB = None More Black (Spinal Tap reference on the all-black, no printing album cover). The Blackstar is nearly all black, with chrome bridge-pickup cover, neck-pickup bezel, bridge, mute adjustment knobs, strap knobs, and most screws. Some here have gone further into the blackness. Brian Crisman had, for a time, a "Blackstarred" 4004L Laredo, refinished with the fretboard painted black, and anything chrome replaced with black, including the screws. I think he even had the black-taped strings. The only things that weren't absorbing all visible wavelengths were the frets, the microdot position markers, and the chromed "Rickenbacker" lettering on the TRC.

Ahhh...NMB...I get it. I'm a little slow sometimes. I used to call it the 4004 "Stealth." Brian used to call it the Quasi-Blackstar. Anywho, I know what you're talking about now. Yes, a very cool Rick bass.

Very cool collection Paul and I love the new addition.

My ex-Laredo I referred to as "Blackened" (a nod to Metallica) and everything Paul stated is correct except I preferred chrome screws for contrast and only had black strings on it for a short time. Mostly it looked like this.....

...it is currently in Marc's collection and hopefully I get dibs on it if he ever decides to part with it. It's a fantastic bass and i only parted with it because I needed the funds for my Wal purchase.

I should be at the RIO show, but I don't think I'll be able to bring all of them (gotta fit the wife and small luggage into the CRV, too). I'll try to coordinate what I bring with the other attendees. Certainly, I'll bring the white V63, the Mink, the Sea Green, but items such as the Fireglo V63 and even the DCM might duplicate others. I should also have the 4004Cii Blueburst by then (but I thought I'd have it before last Christmas; no joy).
