My new 660/12 was delivered yesterday. The case didn't feel particularly cold (just a little cool), but I didn't open it (better safe than sorry). Six hours later, the metal trim on the case STILL felt noticeably cool to the touch---after a couple days in unheated trucks the whole thing was probably pretty cold, and it takes a while for the warmth to penetrate all the way through, even if the outside has warmed up some.

Another indication of how thermal shock can crak finishes, people who relic guitars turn compressed air cans upside down and spray the guitar body in an up and down fashion. the aerosol hitting the guitar is ridiculously cold, and then it warms up again when you stop, creating cracks.

What color did you get? I'm all 660 obsessed right now waiting for my 660/12AFG to roll up to my door.
Thanks!

Midnight Blue. I posted a picture in the "My First New Rickenbacker" thread in the "Guitars" forum. Oh yes, it's very nice!
