What Is Your "Go-To" Amp ?

Post by goofyfoot »

You are headin' to a gig. Your Ric is resting comfortably in its case in the back seat or trunk. The same goes for that acoustic-electric you brought along for some of the songs in the set. Yeah, man, you're cookin' tonight, Slick. You tempt yourself and work a slight smile of contentment onto your countenance. The kicker? Your amp. The evening will not see a PA system. It's amp night. You're "In Like Flint," brah. The amp's gonna save you a time or two this night.

What amp is sitting in the back of your ride? What is your "go-to" amp? Yep, just name one, brothas and sistahs.

Here's mine ~ the all-tube acoustic and electric amp designed by legendary Paul Rivera, Sr. Where would Fender amp production be today had CBS not wooed Paul Sr. to head up Fender amp R&D in the early 80's? Late.....Goofyfoot.

Fender SuperSonic! My guitars tend to get a lot of attention at gigs, but they would be awfully quiet without the big Fender.

In the past it's been a JC-120 or Traynor... it's important that the sound cuts through the mix.

I'm playing this Saturday and I will be taking the Fender. My only complaint is the weight. I'm already dreading the long staircase at this particular club. I suffer for my art. Maybe I'll invent an amp dolly.

Right now, it's my KUstom 36 Coupe:

All tube, 36-watts, clean and overdrive channels (footswitchable), and an Accutronics reverb as deep as they get!

A 2x10 Victoria Victoriette, equipped with 6L6s.

The Victoria has replaced a 76 SFDR as my Go-To amp.

Fender Deluxe Reverb R.I. No other amp, even many other Fenders, sound this crisp with the 360-12, Gretsch 6118 or even my Guild F-50 acuistic. Also a great reverb and tremolo.

Well it has been my Fender '57RI Twin w/a '63RI Reverb. But................I just scored a used Vibrolux (CVR model) which may be the amp-du-jour....

No question about it, the only one I presently own; a late '60s Kustom roll'n'tuck. Pictures at 11.

I have a Fender '65 DRRI as well. I have never tried my acoustics in it. I use a Fender Acoustasonic for those. I'll have to give it a try.

Cannot believe i'm the first to say AC-30!

For bass, Markbass LMKII. Not picky about cabinets.
