The "Father of the Power Chord" ...a perfect 5th without doubt. Rumble (original title Oddball) stands tall as does Link Wray and the Raymen. The recording amp was a Premier with holes poked in the tweets but the woofer left intact.. speakers were mic'd seperatly ..giving up a wonderfull clean/dirty tone...the one and only Link Wray...

The reported story behind this one is that Link and company were playing a dance and someone wanted them to play a "stroll" and never having done one, having nothing in the repertoire, they winged it based on what they knew a stroll rhythm was and this was what came out. Additionally, this one suffered a hit in air-play as the name's connections with gangs and juvenile delinquency ticked off the authorities. For those that haven't heard there is a re-worked version of this entitled "Ramble" that Link did that uses many of the same elements as are at work here.
