This article certainly let's us know about the hoops one might be expected to jump through in the 1960s to secure a spot on the BBC. Not as spontaneous as I might have imagined.

It was Mick Jagger's distinct voice, a just noticeable deviation from the mainstream UK group sound at the time, that attracted me to the Rolling Stones. It had a uniqueness and edgy quality that got the attention, for better or worse, of many music enthusiasts of the day.

Contrary to the BBC's initial impression, that "It's All Over Now" could not have been further from the truth.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
