Alto Music in Middletown NY has a brand new 4003 Maple glo with two tone walnut headstock. $1569

it plays as smooth as silk and of course sounds great.

OK, I'll bite...

How's Alto Music to deal with?

...do they do a set up?

I might just have to take a road trip to check this out!

Phil at Alto is great to deal with. Sme of the "kids" there not so much.

They do offer the standard free set up with in a year of the purchase.

this bass needs no set up though. if fit like a glove when I played it.

If you are considering a road trip, I would call them first. Ric's dont stay on the wall for 2 long

Thanks for the lo-down...

I talked to Richie Fri afternoon - it was still there. I was in Ohio this week - NY Music in Boardman had a Jetglo for 1449 which was also still on the rack Friday...decisions decisions!

My 'V63 has been lonely too long...it needs a stable mate!

No, not expensive by EU standards I suppose. But these are being sold based on the new prices (12/07), and they should actually go for less since they were ordered who knows how long ago, and according to everything I've read (including the word from John Hall himself!) any instrument ordered before 12/07 would be priced at the old rates. Of course it is up to the dealer to set the price, but come on now! If I didn't already have a V63 I'd have already jumped on this one.

I may go for it, however once I add shipping and sales tax I'm looking at over 1700 smackers...

...it's still calling to me though!

Is that a question or a statement?

Either way ...it is compared to the $965 including sales tax I paid for mine only 7 years ago.

I am not a big fan of the Maple glo. If it had been Fire Glo I would be Alerting you all to my new bass....
