Parallel Knob Configuration

Post by rickaddict »

This gives new meaning to the term!

Check it out! It would be hard to adjust them without bumping into the other knobs. I'm guessing its a reproduction pick guard, but it looks like a real one.

That's odd! I wonder why they did that?

It's not ugly. May be easier to see all the knobs when playing too. Sure would be tough to get to the middle two.

Another example of some one asleep at the
job....
I've seen a number of "off" guards....

Nothing indicates whether it's factory or aftermarket or owner-generated. It's both ugly and impractical, so I'd have to say that it's unlikely it's factory-made.

Why on earth?? Maybe it was done to accommodate a handicap or some preference. I would think (hope) that is not a factory guard.

It would be an extreme length to go for a mod of questionable efficacy (the forum bassists might be the best ones to answer this), but could the motivation for the mod be ease of rolling either both the volume or both tone controls off at once with the edge of one's palm? That's the only reaon I could think of for having the mod done, since the placement of the knobs would make individual adjustment of the knobs difficult, as Jeff T noted in an earlier post.
