Help me date an Electro ES-17

Post by brianeharmonjr »

I talked to a guy who is trying to date his Electro ES-17 (like Ric 425). It's got "439" stamped on the butt end of the boyd vibrato cover. Anyone know how to date this? Or is there a number somewhere else? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

You may want to check pot dates.

Isn't that illegal in Blue states?

An ES-17 with a Boyd Vibrato is a very rare bird, indeed. The most Boyd-equipped guitars (425Ss) were built in '67. That's a good place to start.
