What is the deal with this case?

Post by ajish4 »

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... NA:US:1123

ALSO FOUND HERE>...with the 4002 that is on Ebay now!

I have one of these cases, it came with my 1981 Walnut.

The original receipt states he was the original purchaser, and he SWEARS it is the original case that came with the bass.

Is there ANY info out there for these cases?

Thanks!

Doesn't look like any RIC issued bass case that I've ever seen.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

ACTUALLY,

It has BEEN CONFIRMED by a VERY RELIABLE source, that for a VERY SHORT period in time, RIC DID issue these cases with their products!

I just took delivery of the 4002 pictured in this thread. I'm happy with it and I'll post more on it soon, but I did get to check out the case in person.

If I've seen cases like this in the past, I've probably dismissed them as some sort of generic option. But now that I've seen this one up close I'd have to say that it looks RIC-issued. It has a form-fit foam base that is cut just right for a 4000 series bass. It looks like these cases were some sort of forerunner to today's molded SKB RIC case. It has a similar cutout for loose items as well.

I'd have to say that I prefer the black tolex-covered cases with the form-fitted foam from the late 70's/80's. But this one is substantially lighter.

Thanks Rob. I posted a review on the 4002 thread in the For Sale section if you're interested. It'll be a while before I take photos of it though. It wouldn't be right. It needs a good cleaning. Know what I mean?...it would be like if I took a photos of my wife first thing in the morning and posted them here for everyone to see! :)

It'll take me a while before I can get around to giving it a proper cleaning, but when I do it'll shine like new.
