Paul,

Do you have any pix of your Mom's 4005?

I've tried a bunch of different strings over the last year or two, and these are my favorite, too. I am thinking of branching out and trying the pink set on a jetglo though. I'm only sort of kidding.

I also use the Rotosound Swing 100,80,60,40. Easy to find, but i do live in the UK.
I get them from E-bay. 2 sets for £20 (about $40).
Also Strings Direct do them too.....

I didn't know they had them in pink now. I'm glad I don't have to look at my neck/fretboard much when playing as the strings are nearly invisible in a dark club.

Kevin, I'll try to find a good pic of my mom's bass and scan it.

Sorry for the thread hijack - back on task, I currently have D'Addario XLs on my short-scale basses, since they're cheap and easy to get at juststrings.com, and stainless steel roundwound short-scale strings aren't exactly in abundance. Tempted to try DR Hi Beam shorts next time I put in an order, though, now that I've seen they have them.

I use Dean Markley NPS Blue Steel, but I have to make my own gages: 45,65,80,100.
Or I'll use Ken Smith Rock Masters or Burners in the same gage.

Yeah, maybe the fact that I still need to look sometimes means I should use the pink strings ... partially so I can see, and partially as punishment.

Stainless Lo-Riders for my 4003. Not exactly the rotosound sound, but they last longer.
And for the old 4001, I use Curt Mangan Nickelwound Bass strings, from POTR.
Not bad at all...can't beat the price and close to stock Ric string sizes.

D'Addario Chromes, Labellas, Fender flats, TI's etc. I've ruined too many frets with Rots, both Rics and Fenders. The only RW string I use now are Ric strings which last a LONG time, Rots die in a month and you are lucky to not get a dead string in a set. With a 4001 you will really get that old style 4001 twang with them though if that's what you're after.
