Quadrophenia

Post by scotty »

If you happen to love Quadrophenia, you might want to attend the Quadrophenia Convention in Brighton UK.

It's a two-day event in Brighton, running from April 5th to April 6th 2008, with appearances from the likes of Phil Daniels (Jimmy) Mark Wingett (Dave) Phil Davis(Chalky) Toyah Willcox (Monkey) Gary Shail (Spider) Garry Cooper (Peter) and Trevor Laird (Ferdy). No sign of Sting I see.Whew!

There's a range of events, talks and of course, a movie showing. You can even have a meal with the cast or a brew - but at a price. See the website for full details. Tickets are from £15.

Find out more at the Quadrophenia website

I recall seeing that movie when it came out in '79. Soon after I found myself test driving a Vespa 200 at a local dealership. Unfortunately, I didn't get my first Vespa until about 5 years ago. It's a '66 VMA1 125. Shortly thereafter I added a '64 V9A 90 to the collection. Unfortunately, it's a bit far for me to take a ride down to Brighton!

I always liked Lambretta's better than I did Vespa's. The trouble is I am so damn old now I can't remember why. Oh and don't forget your WW II flying goggles, the furry parka and the tiger tail.

We did not have to go to India to bag our tiger. We got them from Esso. "Put a Tiger In Your Tank"

The mods from Southampton were quite sophistcated Scott as you can see. Some of us actually had a few bob to our name. Well at least until after the weekend was over.

Haha, I have an Esso Tiger tail swinging off the back of my bike...they also made the matching key ring version. Somehow over time, people have evolved their memory of that into a furry fox tail (!) which is incorrect, of course.

I come to the Ric forum to get away from scooters! I'm a Vespa/Lambretta mechanic by day!
and I've got a garage full of bikes etc.

Cheers,
-Collin

ps...anyone who likes Lambrettas over Vespas must be self-loathing, IMO. They are so horribly designed mechanically it's unreal.. (that's why they sit broken down on the side of the road all the time!!)
