RIC copies for sale
Don't know if this company has ever been brought up here but I was surfing around another forum and they were oogling over these:

Blatant copies. If this has been talked about before, apologies.

Re: RIC copies for sale
Click "Others", there are many different fakes.
Re: RIC copies for sale
Ballsy! They even call a couple Rickenbacker, though one is a Les Paul copy. It would be funny if it wasn't so blatant and illegal.

Re: RIC copies for sale
I quite like the Ricken Baker
myself!

Re: RIC copies for sale
yeah. somebody needs to email this to John Hall. These guys need to be shut down, even if just based on their guitars alone. Those are the WORST ric copies I've ever seen!
Some of them are pretty good, sorta (visually...they never play like a real ric), but those copies are like cartoon versions drawn up by a drunk six year old !!
Anytime you are looking at a guitar called the "ROK AXE" it's a good indication that you need to run screaming and say no to china...
Cheers,
-Collin

I'm pretty sure John Hall knows about this.
Re: RIC copies for sale
I played a 330 copy that had the same tailpiece as that one in glasgow. It was absolutely awful! The sales guy tried to tell me how its great and how Rics are horribly overpriced. I got really agitated, but kept my cool and left.

That corncob must look mighty funny when you're playing standing up.

Re: RIC copies for sale
I have seen that squiggles-thingie tail piece before. These are made by Tokai I think.

Hmmn, £120 for a genuine Gibson Les Paul goldtop '57 historic reissue. I'm tempted!

My favorite part was the $8 Stevie Ray Vaughn pickguard that was $110 to ship.
Thanks!

...I thought...
Pay Less Guitars. Got me wondering...
Could they be a division of:

Or maybe:

Nah. They're in Arkansas. These geetars are Chinese. Well, maybe:

Nope. They're in Kansas, I think. So I tried:

Errr, Brooklyn. How about:

Ummm, no. They seem to have been out of business for awhile. Then I found:

...which would certainly account for some of the colors of those PRS knockoffs...or:

...which would explain the craftsmanship, but we still were in the USA...and THEN I found:

NOODLES!!!

...NOW we're getting somewhere, I thought. But at that point the trail led to:

...Alabama and FEMA. And you know when the trail leads to a Federal Agency, there ain't no way you're gonna get any good answers.
I'm exhausted...but then I lucked onto this good read (scan to about 2/3 of the way down the page...):

Great, more fraudulent, Chinese garbage!
Quite an illuminating article. Thanks for posting it, Paul. Let's blockade China.

Re: RIC copies for sale
I remember the case of the Gibson dealer cited in the article. Pretty ballsy.
