Finishes available for the Cii5?

Post by jeff_ulmer »

While I'm perfectly capable of reading the options on the Ric website, I have noticed in the past that it is not always 100% accurate. The Cii is now listed as available in all standard Ric colors, as is the Laredo, but the 5 is listed as natural, green, red or blue only. I (of course) want one in MB.... so... anybody know?

I think they mean the translucent Red, Blue, and Green are only available for 4004CII models ... not the reverse ... Although I have never seen a Black 4004CII ... Music123.com has 4004L models in several colors ... and for a good price ...

If you go to the individual product pages, they changed the available colors a few months ago. The Laredo was listed as available in Jetglo only up until then, even though it was available in other colors. Of course, if you thought I meant Midnight Blue (MID) I actually am looking for Montezuma Brown (MB). Image

The Cii5 has the old Cii text in it, but the Cii now lists all available standard colors - is MB a standard color?

Over at the Dudepit, there is a selection of photos of the NAMM show Rickenbackers. One is a C ii Loredo (I think) in Fireglo (sunburst) with chrome hardware. Looks nice. Go to:

and click "More pics here"

And there is a five-string Jetglo with gold, too.

If they've made one in Jetglo...maybe they'll make a Cii/5 in Fireglo...with gold hardware. I'd even wait two years for something that sweet!

All the 4004's are available in all the colors including Montezuma AND the translucent ones. I don't know how to convey this any clearer on the website.

With all due respect, the Cii/5 is worded differently than the Cii. I'm certainly not complaining here...this is great news! Now I just have to figure out which color I'd like on a 4004/5.

Thank you Mr. Hall for this info!

I now notice that the description of colors available for the 4004/5 has changed this morning.

The 4004/5 at NAMM was actually Translucent Green.
Seems to be a very difficult color to photograph.

The original Laredo with the maple neck and jetglo finish is simply beautiful

Thanks, John. I am glad you had the website corrected today. I figured this was a simple error, which is why I asked the question.
