The 19th Dot?

Post by teeder »

Ok, I was playing the 4000 over the weekend and I got to wondering; when did Rick start putting the 19th position marker dots on the "S" basses?

From the 4000's I've seen, it likes like the 19th fret dot started
around 71 or early 72.
Around the same time the Shedua strip started.

Funny-
I had one of the first v63's off the line and it had a 19th fret dot.

I have a '97 Fireglo V63 with the 19th fret dot. My theory is that assembler just grabbed a fretboard from from the "wrong" (S) pile:

My early ’85 V doesn’t have a 19th

Hmm, that could be. I haven't seen many early 4000's.

The pile of "S" boards would have no binding and only dots.....

That would line up with going from neck-through to set-neck.
