Buy it before someone else does
This is seriously getting out of hand. When I bought mine over a year ago, I thought that 2 grand was too much! Little do I know. This guy needs a serious reality check. Looks like he hasn't changed the strings in about 10 years, either. See ya next year when your BIN price is gonna be $15,000! What a moron...

So it says the item will NOT be relisted, instead it will be put back to gain even more value...
I wonder if that turns out to be true or not...
I guess I haven't done my "homework" as he refers to it, but I don't see why #22 is worth five times what #800 is worth? But it only takes one sucker with a lot of $ to make for a fancy payday, so I wish hime luck...

For me ... I'd rather have a 4001v63 than a 4001CS ... also I'd rather have a v63 than a c64 ... as a player I think it looks tacky to preform with some other bass player's signature model ...
I have a cream colored Ric ... but it is a 4003s5 with black trim ... not a Squire model ... and I have a black jazz bass with block inlays ... but it is a five string and it has a different pickguard and pickups than a Geddy Lee model ...

I could see #1 or #1000 having some significance for someone, but a low number doesn't mean jack to me.
I like my CS, and it may have better long term investment value than a v63 would have. Since this and my other "player's" models are just a part of my collection, I don't worry about playing out with them. In the case of my Fenders, they had mods that I prefer, like the Badass bridges and better feeling necks, so it made sense to buy both a collector's piece and and instrument that I didn't need to modify myself.
That said, not all signature models appeal to me, which makes their value a lot less.

Jeff,
I understand how you feel, as I had a down payment on a Squire, which I think was number #66 in the series, and was ready to buy it. But it had a big chip in the paint next to the bridge, I already had a v63 Mapleglo, and I badly needed to upgrade my amplifier and speakers, so had the store apply the money to an amp purchase. I've kicked myself for doing that ever since, hey I could be $9,500 richer now!
