Hm... There are very interesting things going on in here. Very nice job, Jared. You know, it's just too bad I don't have too much time on my hands these days, otherwise I'd start building replacement pickups for Ricks in earnest. I don't mean building exact replicas of Rick pickups -that would be asking for trouble - just professional-looking, fine-performing, high-gain style replacement pickups to go with your baseplates and horseshoes. Maybe someday, who knows...
Keep up the good work.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.
Your The MAN !!! They look great. I definitely think that is what I am looking for, thanks for making the effort. This design is perfect for those with hi gains who want the horseshoe look and still retain the original magnet assembly. Not to mention the aluminum baseplate for those who need to replace their broken plastic ones.
Rob-have thought about the clearcoat, but either the finish keps peeling off or its got that "underwater" look.
Steve- I will be making more of these as son as I can find a better grade of "alloy" to work with. I also need to change to a pyrex cup on my GTAW torch. Can't see a d_mn thing!
