New 360JG

Post by steverok »

Usually, UPS doesn't come to my house until after 6:00, but they have shown up early a couple times, so I brought some work home to wait for them. I was fearing that, as I approached my house, I would see one of those yellow UPS stickers on my front door, notifying me that I would have to go through hell and high water to get my grubby hands on my new sweetheart. But, much to my simultaneous horror and joy, the dang box was sitting outside my front door, unattended. Those knuckleheads at UPS have no idea what they are plopping on my front doorstep in broad daylight !! Anyway, I quickly, and I mean QUICKLY, got over it, and went to work opening the box. Ooh, better get some pliers and take those big staples out, else I might scratch the case. The box slides right out - a brand new case without a mark on it. I live in South Florida, and it was breezy and cool today - did not hesitate to open it up. Behold, I mean, I haven't done this in awhile, but opening a virgin RIC straight from the factory, it's almost like a cocoon opening up, or a new birth, except there is no slime involved - pure chrome and shiney black petroleum staring me up in the face ... and PERFECTION, at that. The new headstock, perfectly tapered and sporting the Rickenbacker name, the precisely placed parts - the bridge, the pickguard and controls, and these cool new adjustable hi-gain pickups, the new nut with more than 1 3/8" spacing between big and little E, as opposed to the old 360 nut which gave less than 1 3/8" between big and little E, the hi-gloss mirror-black that is JetGlo, all staring up at me like a perfect work of art, and still virgin ... and with full-width inlays :D I'd take pictures now but first it needs to be played :!:

Wow you really made out nicely. Small 'stock and full inlays, doesn't get any better than that. Well, unless you could get some toasters in there as well

Congratulations Steve, but your post could have been just as meaningful without the profanity.

Dude.....Congrats on your new acquisition and props to you for scoring it in classic Jetglo. I hope you were sporting shades 'cause that GLO can be awfully blinding to the unsuspecting when opening the case. Play on, pick often, and prosper. Best regards.....Goofyfoot.
Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.

As promised, in all its shiney black glory. I must say, the new changes with the tapered headstock, the new inlays, and adjustable hi-gains are all very nice. I already went to town on the pole pieces, and tuned in my sound. It sounds really good now. Another stunner, as usual, from RIC.

Congratulations on getting one with the new features. I think that this generation of Rics with the vintage-size headstock, full width inlays and with the new hi-gains, are arguably some of the nicest guitars that have been released in a long time from any company as part of the standard line up.
