Re: i wish i woulda...
bought that 4001CS at Mr. Music in Allston MA for $995 in 1997.
Re: i wish i woulda...
bought a 4001 back in the early 70s when I was active. Life would not have been the same. Though I am old enough and experienced enough to know that is most likely not a good thing. Never would have married my wife (I had casually met her a couple times back then) nor had my three wonderful kids. Ahhh, C'est la vie!
Re: i wish i woulda...
...kept my Sea Green V63 and my '68 pink Paisley Fender tele bass

Re: i wish i woulda...
no regrets here ... I sold some really nice basses ... but damn ... I was running out of room to keep them all ...
Heck I still got more than I need ...
I am just thankful for the abundance in my life ... good job, good house, good marriage, good health, good kids ... and a nice collection of 5 string basses ...
I am happy ...

Re: i wish i woulda...

Bought a 81 Jetglo 4001 in 1996 for $350, neck was warped and fretboard coming up and no one around our area could fix it, or didn't want to. Not knowing much at the time, someone offered me $500 for it in 98 and I took the cash and ran.
Now I'm in looking to get one back. Prolly a new Jetglo 4003.
Re: i wish i woulda...
Right on, Jeff. Great points. They apple to me as well - still having more than I need with the same five "goods". I would like to aspire to this viewpoint and let go of my regrets.jwr2 wrote:no regrets here ... I sold some really nice basses ... but damn ... I was running out of room to keep them all ...

Re: i wish i woulda...
Actually I wish I had bought a ton of 4001cs and 4001v63 basses in the 90s cheap and resold them all for a big markup in 2006 for big bucks ...

I wish I woulda been into Rics when the LKs were first being offered.
Re: i wish i woulda...
Shouldn't have sold my first Rick, an early 80's 4001 in Walnut. I keep looking for it to turn up somewhere around Toronto....
Re: i wish i woulda...
I've told the story before, but I wish I had not sold my '68 4001 with all the features for $250. The good thing was I only paid $200 for it so I thought I was making $50

....."smoked" less in the 80's, 'cuz I must've been high to trade my 4003s AzureGlo for a Charvel.
