My 68 came with it's original Fender generic type case, and the bass has plenty of room to move around in it!

If I remember correctly, Fender used to have a case like that back in the 60s. Fender also had a cream tolex and a brown tolex case.

I have a brown tolex G&G case for my '60 Strat Reissue. It's a gorgeous case.

I used to have a candy apple red strat that resided in a "black tweed" G&G case like that, but it had black plush interior. Man, when you opened up that case, it looked incredible. The case that I had, and the case shown in the link above, are actually tweed, but instead of the traditional tweed color, it's black and white tweed woven together with black leather ends. It's not silver tolex like the Ric cases. If it was silver tolex with blue plush lining it might be a Ric-ish case, but it just looks like a Fender case to me.

EDIT: On closer inspection, it does look like a silver tolex wrapping and not the "black tweed". So, it's closer than I thought.

I have a blonde RI bass case.
An older 4001 will fit, but a 4003 built after 97 is too wide....

I can get these (and so can all of you...) for about $100 less than
a Rick silver case.

Fender and Rickenbacker vintage style cases are made by (and have always been made by) G&G. I guess it makes sense that they made a silver/greyish case that fits fenders, even if the interior color is wrong.

My first Fender was a '65 Mustang. It came with a silver case (with orange interior). Didn't have a logo badge on it though.

Odd that G&G would make a silver case for Fender, when it IS a Ric trademark for the vintage RIs.
