Will do. I'll be doing Lead Vox ... although the band has as many as 20 lead vocalists at one time. I'll send more info along when they're officially confirmed.

I did score the cheapy $60 souvenir tix for my wife for the third year in a row, did you get those? Did anyone else?

I live about 5 blocks away from the main entrance of the festival, so I'm happy to provide fridge space / clean bathrooms / whatever.

Hmmm, I may have to take you up on that. I'm going to try to make it this year.

That might be a good thing, as my friends are all kind of sick of me pointing out all the Rickenbackers.

Jake..the ticket you got for $60...is that a three day pass? or one day?

I'm going to try and buy tix on Tuesday when the next round goes on sale

Three day pass! Each year they've released a small number (~3000) of souvenir tickets really early. The previous two years they've sent an email to their mailing list with a link, and they've told out within 10 minutes. This year they sent an email that said "hey, keep an eye on the website, we're posting them sometime this week". So I didn't get a ton done at work that week. They still sold out in 10-15 minutes, but in that time I managed to get a pair, and get a couple co-workers around me to buy a pair too. Plus, my wife happened to check the website at exactly the right time (the only time she looked all week, go figure!), and got a pair for some friends of ours.

The tix that are going on sale next week are still a good deal -- they'll go up by about 50% once the lineup is announced. There are some pretty big acts already confirmed, even though it's not 100% official. I recall Radiohead, NIN, Wilco, a couple others ... there's a list on the Lollapalooza forum. They also list Miley Cyrus as confirmed, but I'm about 90% sure that's a forum in-joke.

Well, that sounds like good news because the tix go on sale on 3/25, and the lineup get announced 4/7.

The only thing I am thinking is whether I should buy my kid a ticket or not. 10 and under get in free. He'll be 11 just before the concert...how will they know? but if I gamble on that, and they say no, but the concert's sold out..then what do I do?

Now that the lineup's out:

Bang Camaro. I'm a member of the Chicago chapter of their dude choir. They have 10-20 lead vocalists (all at once) for each show, and so when they tour, since they can't bring everyone, they have local guys supplement the choir. They put on a hell of a fun show, but make sure you get there early since I believe we're kicking off the whole thing at 11am on the Friday. That's ideal for me since I won't have messed up my voice yet :)

It's the most rock and roll thing you could possibly do before noon.

So who else is going to Lollapalooza? I always show up early each day because being into the bands that nobody else has heard of (yet) makes me feel special.
