Only reason I wanted a Rick. (Later came many other reasons.) By the way: Lemmy has his own signature Marshall (click) now also.

I really like his playing and all, but he's responsible for pushing/popularizing Firebirds and Vox Teardrops, if anything...NOT Rics. To be honest, his use of a Ric is as notable as that of the Shadows of Knight or the Syndicate of Sound. Carl Wilson is a much more notable user.
I read in this Guitar Player July '06 interview with Mike Campbell that he helped revived the Rickenbacker sound in '79. He said he liked the way the Beatles, The Byrds and The STONES used them, or something like that. I don't know, I might have to find the article and type it word for word when I find it.
Also, Entwistle dropped playing them in favor of other brands based on the sound and feel that he needed and the technical difficulties that he ran into. And Quaife is not a notable enough player to have been that big with Rics either. He was more into Fender as well, after '65 or so and then he was in and out of the Kinks between '66 and '69 when he dropped out.
I was thinking off the top of my head, and the best I could come up with was Entwistle and Quaife. I don't really know about Geddy Lee that much, to be honest

For bass the big 4 would be Lee, Squire, McCartney, and Lemmy. Probably in that order. Guitar would at least be Lennon, Harrison, McGuinn, Petty, and Townsend. Maybe that order.

BAD! BAD! How dare you put together a list without knowing everything!
I'm just messin with ya.

Bass for me.. as in personal influences for getting the bass were
1. Macca
2. Roger Waters
3. Geddy Lee (I actually bought my bass at this time.. I got fed up with not sounding right)

After that I noticed that any really good bassist I liked used a Rickenbacker at some point.

For guitar.. I can't argue with some of the other's lists
George, John, Roger.. all valid.

Besides my top three for bass, Chris, Geddy and Paul, I've got to throw Roger Glover's name into the mix.

Yeah!
While all the kids were leraning Blackmore's "Smoke on the Water" riff on guitar, there was Glover's Rickenbacker bass pounding out the relentless bass line against it. I'm sure more than a few were asking what kind of bass that was.

It's who acts as the catalysts, in order.

The Beatles first bringing Ric to the masses, and The Byrds help the 12 string sales along the way. They take Ric through the 60's. After that the guitar/bass production is very low, (see how many 69/70/71 models there are) and until Squire comes to the fore, Ric struggle there for a few years.

After Squire raises their profile, many others jump onboard, but Geddy is probably the next big guy and then REM start the guitar thing for a new generation.

We'll look back in 10 years and probably have a new face to credit...

Nate is your avatar from "Don't Look Now" with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie? Meant to ask you about that before. I've always been a big Julie Christie fan, even though she's always been old enough to be my mother. I was hooked after seeing Dr. Zhivago.

I'll rate Susanna Hoffs as #1 Ric girl. My favorite Bangles video from youtube (think it is their favorite too):
