Here are a few Beatles covers I've done with my Ric 320JG, 360/12FG and 4003FG bass. All the tracks, instrumental and vocal are me except for the drums which are MIDI.

All My Loving

Octopus' Garden (sharing vocals with my wife... the guitar is my Strat, but the bass is my Ric)

Sounds great as I work my way down the list! All sounds good except for those digi-drums! I hated them when I had to use them, and I continue my discrimination of such drums! hahahaha, the musicianship on your part is there, as well as a great ear for good tone!

is that 360 one with toasters or hi gains?

Thanks Nick! Yeah I hate the digidrums too! But it is still better than keeping a drummer tied up in my basement.

That is my '81 320JG you are hearing on "Ask Me Why".

I love the triplets in "All My Loving". In fact, this is one of my fav all time Beatle songs. It shows off both their brilliance at creation as well as their superb musicianship; between Paul's wonderful walking bassline (try playing it and singing the song at the same time), John's absolutely perfect triplets on the little Ricky and George's tight little double stop lead, this song is most satisfying to play and to listen to!

Very nice! Many of them have a nice roadhouse "live" vibe to them. I think my favorite is "Ask Me Why" but I dig your version of "You Can't Do That" too.

Thanks David! I appreciate that comment since they were all recorded track by track in my office/studio! You must like the sound of the 325 since it is prominent on both of those tracks.

My favorite in the list is "My Back Pages" because of the sound I got out of my 360 12 string. I compressed the output of the 12 string with a pedal compressor and then recompressed the track itself in Sonar. I came out amazingly jangly and I love it! It helped that I used McGuinn's flatpick/banjo fingerpicks style for playing it!

I'm not sure what you mean by "basic tracks"? I played all the tracks and did all the vocals except for the drums which are sampled.

I have the following setup"

M-Audio Audiophile 24/29 Audio Card
Alto S6 Mixer
Behringer MIC200 Tube UltraGain preamp
Behringer CS100 Compressor (foot pedal for the Ric 12 string)
Zoom B2 Bass Pedal
Apex 435 large diaphragm condenser microphone (vocals)
Sonar 7 Producer Edition multitrack recording software
Sony SoundForge 7 (mixdown mastering and compression)

I usually go straight in with my guitars through the preamps on my mixer or the Behringer tube preamp. With the 12 string, I'll run it through the pedal compressor first and then compress the track again with the Sony "Wavehammer" compressor inside Sonar (that's how I got that jangle in "My Back Pages"). My Ric bass goes in through the Zoom B2 and then directly in. I sample the MIDI drums through my Edirol Super Quartet synth which is in Sonar.

If I had better amps I would record them but my Line6 Spider 112 doesn't give me any warmth at all. It is just a practice amp. Now once I get my hands on a Vox AC30 watch out!
