How great is this place??

Post by ozover50 »

It's amazing how things can develop. In the 2008 pictures thread Wes Mitchell posted a pic of his Mapleglo 350v63 and mentioned that he would be selling it soon to fund another Rick. Now I've been looking around for one of these for a while so I sent him a PM. He reponded very quickly and a series of PMs back and forth saw us working out price, payment, shipping and such.

Wes was a bit piqued about the commission on Paypal so I offered to either go halves on that and suggested that a direct bank transfer would be another option - costs me $25 but nothing to the payee. I offered the names of other forum members whom I've dealt with in that fashion because we barely knew each other and I felt it was an act of good faith. Wes also showed good faith and great trust by providing me with his bank details.

Blow me down.... 3 days later, Wes has the money in his bank and he's delivering the guitar to Paul's office in SF today!! With any sort of luck I'll be picking it up in July or August - unless a kind forum member happens to be travelling this way in the interim..... hint, hint!! :mrgreen:

Just another example of how great this community is..... I love it!! :D :D

Hahahahahahahaha!!!! Nice one, Stan! No..... it's my fourth. I really needed to sell a few before buying any others but the chance was going to pass me by, so........... After all, that's what revolving mortgages are for, aren't they?? :mrgreen:

The avatar stays, too!!

Thanks, Scotty. I've bought a number of guitars through the forum and every time it's been much more than a pleasant experience. The many generous offers of help with things like shipping and storage are always amazing!

Great story! With the PayPal fee savings, you ought to be able to just hop a plane and come pick it up! :lol: :twisted:

Very nice looking maple on that one. :wink:

Hey I'll generously offer to store a few of your Ricks for ten to fifteen years at no charge. Now let me see which one you should bring over first? :twisted: :mrgreen:

Since then the 350v63 MG has been added. I'm trying to sell a few on Aussie ebay at the moment but with no luck thus far. Lots of lookers and a few ridiculous offers after end of auction but no real action. :cry:

Could be a combination of:

- Scary economic outlook; :?
- Time of year;
- The fact that a lot of gits like me log straight onto US ebay and forget to set the global search option to see Oz auctions. :oops:

I confess I'm out of the market for the time being, unless a really sweet 4004 shows up at the right price. Though there is a 4003S/8 I've got my eye on as well...
